Music Therapy Month

"My name is Helena Collins-Gravitt, MT-BC and I am a board certified music therapist. I graduated from the University of Missouri Kansas City in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts with an emphasis of music therapy. I am from St. Louis Missouri, however, I don't miss the cold one bit. My inspiration for becoming a music therapist is my younger cousin. He was diagnosed with autism and as we were growing up I saw how he thrived with the aid from his music therapist. I've always loved music and I genuinely enjoy helping others so music therapy is a perfect marriage of those parts of myself.  I was drawn to Milemarkers because it gives me the opportunity to help children and adults like my cousin. My passion in music therapy is emotional regulation and relaxation, many already use music as a calming strategy and I want to help further develop that. During my free time I like to play video games, board games, and crochet."

"Music is the strongest form of magic." - Miss Helena's favorite quote
