Does your kiddo have a hard time answering questions?

Does your kiddo have a hard time answering questions?

It could be they are having a hard time understanding the language or understanding the expectation of answering questions.

Here are some quick tips to try to help with language:

  • Emphasize keywords when telling a story.

  • Teach the meaning of each question word:

  • Who: People

  • What: Objects and actions

  • Where: Places

  • When: Time

  • Why: A reason

  • Prep your child for the question before you ask the question.

Here are some quick tips to try to help them understand it’s a question and what to do next:

  • Point out that when your voice goes up it means it’s a question.

  • Play turn-taking games and pair each turn with a question.

  • Give your child two options to choose from.
